Contemporary, Functional Ceramic Art Collection
Mary Louise Carter has been a potter for over thirty years. Her porcelain works bring thoughtful, elegant solutions to functional ceramic forms and offer a heightened sense of pleasure to the user. A California native, she received her BFA degree from the Kansas City Art Institute and her MFA degree from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred. From 1998 until 2014 she taught ceramics and design at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA, where she held the Clarice Harp Lyles Endowed Professorship in Ceramics. Carter served as the resident potter at the Vermont State Craft Center in Middlebury, VT from 1993 to 1997. She has exhibited her work throughout the U.S. and has lectured and conducted workshops at various institutions. She currently maintains a home and studio in Corralitos, CA.
